Con Peluchonneau alle costole, il clandestino Neruda completa la stesura di Canto General e si dedica a escursioni notturne segrete. La storia della caccia al poeta in breve giunge in Europa, dove gli artisti guidati da Pablo Picasso fanno sentire la loro voce per la libertà di Neruda.
